Andrew Condon Vidaurre, volunteer from the USA

I heard about El Puente from Nanci, who I met at a nearby beach. She told me about the organization and I thought it sounded interesting.
Now I live in the area and I come by Barry and Nanci's house two or three times a week. I try to help with translating and whatever else I can do.
After a little time here, it's clear to me that this is a very special place, and I look forward to further contributing to it's goals while I'm here.

  1. I was very Blessed to have had the opportunity to work briefly with Barry and Nanci Stevens a few years back shortly after the inception of El Puente. I have watched this grass-roots human service organization grow from an outreach to one elderly man to a community base serving over 100 indigenous and Caribbean people of Puerto Viejo. I may no longer be there physically, but I will always remain in Spirit. I published a book shortly after returning to the States and try to help out by donating 25% of the royalties to the continued operation of El Puente. Chronicles of the Jungle Mom: Notes from the Jungle, the story of my life as a single mom in Puerto Viejo can be purchased at www.amazon.com.
